Girls Camp 2012

Girl's Camp was awesome!  This year was my fifth time going to girl's camp, and my third time going to a place called Camp Buckhorn for camp.  Camp Buckhorn is on mount San Joseito, which is the sheerest mountain in North America.  I thought that was pretty neat, but it also meant that we were at a very high altitude for camp which made it harder to breathe.  This year, I was a youth leader.  This meant that when everyone went to specific activity rotation, I would stay at one place and help.  I would help the girls doing the activity with what ever they needed help with, whether it was tying bows on their crafts, or helping the glue faux flowers to the flip-flops we made.  One of my favorite activities at camp was the hike, which surprised me that I liked it so much.  I almost didn't  go on the hike because my stomach was hurting and it was hot, but I decided I would do it anyway, and I was really thankful I did.  It turned out to be a really awesome hike, but parts of it were so steep it was more like rock climbing.  At the beginning of the hike, our guide Brother Van Wagoner told us that it was "an easy hike on flat ground till the very end, where there was a little hill, and it was almost completely in the shade."  Everything he told us was technically true, but the "hill at the very end" was a bit more then a little hill.  It was a very long, steep incline that went on for a while.  Afterwords he told us that he said it was an easy hike because if he had told us it was a difficult hike, no one would have done it.  Because he told us it was an easy hike, everyone went on the hike and we did it even though it was hard.  If we had known it was difficult, a lot of people (including me) wouldn't have done it in the first place.
Me before the hike.  I was still oblivious to the fact that I was about to do something very difficult, as you can tell.
Claire and I on the way back from the hike.  We were both very tired and very frazzled, but we had fun!  We had to take lots of breaks and sit in the shade on the way home because we were both so worn out, but we made it back!

Claire, Me, and Rachel.  We climbed some neat rocks at a place called the Indian Caves.  The Indian Caves were where we hiked to, and they were pretty neat!
Me by the Indian Caves.  At camp, there is a different theme for each day, such as crazy sock day, crazy hair day, and pink princess day.  The day of the hike was pink princess day, so I hiked in the pretty pink tutu that I made.  It was fun!
Laurie, Rachel and I by the Indian Caves.
Rachel and I by a waterfall near the Indian Caves. There was lots of small waterfalls along the trail, and they were all super beautiful.

At lunch with Claire.  There was a big cafeteria type place where we all met to eat.  Claire and I aren't in the same ward, but we still ate together sometimes.  Rachel and Laurie are in the same ward as Claire, so it was nice for us all to eat together.

Claire, Laurie, and I got in a super fun water fight.  We got very, very wet, but it was pretty warm at camp so at least we dried quickly!  Claire and Laurie are wearing Indian Princess/Pocahontas outfits because every ward chose a princess to be for that week at camp.  Their ward was Pocahontas, and my ward was Ariel from the little mermaid.  I do not particularly like Ariel, but it was fun to decorate our cabins with seashells and fish balloons.
Me at the pool!  It was nice to go swimming right after the hike.

On crazy hair day, I had very crazy hair.  Sister H (Claire's mom) put a pine cone in my hair with a pink fluff on top.  It was pretty awesome.

Well, camp was awesome, it might be my last year, but maybe not.
Oh, and I don't have a camera that works, so all the pictures were taken by Claire.  :)
One of my leaders took a bunch of pictures, but I don't have them yet.  When I get them, I will make sure to post them!

Mormon Prom

Last weekend, my church held something called Mormon Prom, also called priest/laurel formal. Mormon Prom is a church dance, except you wear fancy clothes and they decorate it really fancy and it is only for youth 16-18. It was so fun!!! My friend Kraig asked me out, and our friend Nathan asked our friend Elizabeth out. Before going on the date, my friend Miriam came over and did my hair. I wish we had got a better picture of it, she did a great job! After Miriam did my hair, we started the date by going to Kraig's house to make dinner which was really yummy! One of the reasons making diner was so fun was because we had no clue what we were going to make beforehand. We just used what food Kraig already had and some food that Nathan brought. I am not sure exactly what we made because we made it up as we went, but I know that we made some sort of chicken and potatoes dish, ground beef and noodles, cheesy zucchini, salad, and for dessert we had cookies and cream milkshakes. It was a really yummy dinner and we had a lot of fun making it. After dinner, we got ready for the dance, and my friend Claire took pictures of us. After pictures, we went to the dance and had a ton of fun! I had helped decorate the day before, so I knew partially what it looked like, but it looked so beautiful completely set up with all the lights lit up. It was the most fun dance I have ever been to, it was awesome! They also had a photographer at the dance, so we got lots of pictures! Here are the pictures we took:

New Years Eve 2012!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a good New Year’s Eve, I sure did! I had soooooooooo much fun! I went on my first date!!! It was a double date (of course,) and it was a ton of fun! I went with my friend Kraig, and our friend Nathan went with my friend Hayli. Hayli is in my ward, and she and Nathan had never met before. We all had a lot of fun! First we went to the new Sherlock Holmes movie, which was super good. It was a little scary at parts, but it was actually a really good movie. After the movie, we went to Kraig's house to have dinner. Kraig and Nathan had made the dinner before picking Hayli and I up, and it was really, really, amazingly delicious. They made it almost completely my themselves, and it was chicken cordon bleu, ceaser salad, and fruit salad. For dessert we had ice cream with frozen berries on top. The boys already had set the table with a red table cloth, candles, fancy dishes, and goblets, which we drank sparkling apple cider in (except for Kraig, who drank cream soda.) The boys served us all of the food, and it was a very nice dinner. After we ate we played a fun game with a weird name called Farkle. It is a game that you play with dice and it was a lot of fun! At about 8:45, we left to go to the dance. It was the New Years Eve dance (obviously) so it went from 9:00 till 12:00. For the first hour or so we were in the gym where the actual dance was, but then Kraig started coughing a lot because he was a little sick and he had bad allergies, so we sat down and watched people. Then we went to a room where they had a Ping-Pong table, and we played that for a while. We walked around a lot and played games and talked with other friends. At about 11:20, we went back to the place where they had the Ping-Pong table, and we played ping pong with our friend Ben. We also had a nerf gun war in the same room with Ben, Nathan, and few other friends. Then it was almost midnight so we went back to the dance room and counted down to midnight, and jumped on huge rolls of bubble wrap. It was soooooooo much fun!!!!! After that we had to drop a few people off at their homes and then me, so I didn't get home till almost 1:00, but that was ok. It was so much fun, and I was so excited to go on my first date. Happy New Year!

Kraig and Nathan. We hadn't picked up Hayli yet, so we unfortunetly didn't get a picture of us all together.

Willy Wonka

This weekend was my home-school group’s performance of Willy Wonka. It was a really, really fun play!!! I was Grandma Josephina, and my brothers were stage crew. My sister wasn’t in it because she has been sick, but she had a lot of fun watching it! As always, the play was a lot of work but a lot of fun. My mom took some pictures, but because we were moving so much on stage it was hard to get clear ones. She was still able to take some pretty good ones, though!

My 16th Birthday!

Last week, I turned 16!!! I am really excited! 16 is the age where in my church we consider ourselves old enough to go on group/double dates, and now I am also old enough to drive (I'm working on that) and its a big age in general! My Birthday was on a Sunday, but the day before that there was a church dance. A few of my friends that live near me came over a while before the dance and we watched singing in the rain and played a few games. It was really fun! After that we went to the dance, and it was my brothers first dance. He sat down on the side of the room pretty much the whole time, but I think he still had a lot of fun even though he pretended not to.
My friend's Claire and Miriam made this super awesome yummy cake for me! Thanks you guys!

The whole group before leaving for the dance. Unfortunately, Miriam isn't 14 yet, but she will be able to go next year!

Church Dances

I love church dances! They are so much fun! If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm referring to dances put on by the LDS church. They are not every week, but I always try to go when they happen! I love seeing my friends, and I really, really love to swing dance. It is so fun! Since my blog is basically my journal, here are some pictures from past dances. :)

My first dance! I went to the New Year's Eve Dance with my awesome cousin Franklin.

These are some girls from my ward. I drove to the dance with them.

My friends Nathan, Elizabeth, and Kraig. The dance was in August 2010. It was casual dress, so you didn't have to wear church clothes. I remember it being very fun. :)

This picture is from last November on my birthday. The friends I usualy drive with and I met at Cold Dtone, got ice cream, and then we drove to the dance. It was a fun birthday!
Kraig and I on the way to the dance. My friend Ben was being crazy, so no good pictures of him, and Nathan was taking the pictures, so none of him. :P

Before the New Year's Eve Dance 2011 with my cousin Franklin and my friend Kraig. (Kraig is my age and in my home-school group and happened to be in Utah at the same time as my family.) We were in northern Utah, and it was very cold but fun!

Before the above dance with Franklin

A dance I went to 2 weeks ago. It was my friend Claire's first dance, and it was really, really fun! (Haha, I look really short compared to my super-tall friends);)

I have been to waaaaaaaay more dances then I have pictures of, and I have so much fun at them! I have only ben to a few where they weren’t fun, and that was because the music was too loud, or the lights gave me a head ache. Other than that, they are always fun! Well, thanks for reading this post!
