Cat tree

I have a good friend named Kraig, and for Christmas, he supprised me by making a really cool present. He made me a tree for my cat Ella! It is a really awesome stand, and it is almost as tall as I am. Ella really really loves it, and climbs on it all the time.

Here is Ella (I'm holding her), the new cat tree, Kraig, and I.

Ella looks really funny in this picture!

Here's Ella telling Molly to go away! When Ella is at the top of her tree, she thinks she is Queen of the world, and nobody is allowed to get near her. Its super funny! Thanks Kraig! :)

Anne of Green Gables

Today I promised my awesome friend Marianne I would blog, so I am! Last month, I was in a play called Anne of Green Gables. It was the second play I have had a part in with more then a few speaking lines (I had abt. 30 lines for this play) and it was the FIRST play I have ever been in that I had a real solo. In Oliver Twist and Pirates of Penzance I had small singing solos, but in this play I had to sing two pages of song all by my self! I was soooooooo nervous before hand, but I think I did a pretty good job! This year for the play, we did performances a little differently for two reasons. 1, we had three shows, a Thursday and Friday night show, and a Saturday morning show. We also had understudy parts that we could play on Saturday if we wanted to. My main part was Mrs. Allan the preachers wife, and my understudy part was Aunt Josephine Berry, who is Diana's aunt. My sister got a pretty big part as the little girl Josie Pie, and her understudy part was the main role Anne, but she decided she didn't want to play that part. The play turned out really really awesome, and I was really happy to participate in it this year. My brothers were stage crew and they also did a great job at that. Way to go everyone!!!

Guess What???

I got braces! I am trying to sound excited in this post, but really the excitement is for when I get them off in 18 months. I got them two weeks ago, and they have almost stopped hurting! Yay! They are blue, because that is my favorite color. The above picture is from two days after I got them, and I was smiling kind of funny because it still hurt a lot to smile. I am finally almost used to them now, though, and I am glad of that. :)

KITTY!!!

Guess what!!! I GOT A CAT!!! I am super excited!!! Some friends of ours have a cat, and she had kittens in mid-August. So, I have always wanted a cat, but my mom is really allergic to them, so I was never able to get one. Then, after much convincing, my parents said I could get a cat, and I promised I would take care of it. So now, I have a cat!!! Yay!!!

This is Ella, my kitty. :)

Saturday, July 3rd. Left for Utah!

Saturday started out with going to our stakes Independence Day celebration. It was lasted about an hour, and it was our stake choir singing different patriotic songs. It was really good! After it finished, there were muffins and fruit to eat, and my mom and I stayed an extra hour talking to friends. When we got home, we finished packing, then off to Utah at about 12 noon. We dropped off our dogs at the dog kennel, then off we went! It was a long, long ride from my house to St. George, but we made it there safely (and without any form of tv whatsoever)

Here are some thing we saw in the car:

We saw lot and lots of mountains.

My awesome new shoes.

More rocks/mountains

This is such a weird name for a road!

A castle.

A tower

A pyramid.

I really liked the look of this mesa, I thought it was supper pretty.

That evening we arived in St. George and we went to... Cracker Barrel!!! Yum! This is my familys favorite restraunt ever, and we go everytime we go to Utah. We usually go to dinner the night we arive in St. George, then the next morning before we countinue travling. It is the best!

After dinner we went back to the hotel, hung out, then went to bed. It was a good day as far as traveling went!

Our awesome story

Last night, my amazing friend Katie and I wrote this awesome story. We were chatting on G-mail, then I had to go for a moment. Right before I left I said "brb", and that is where our story started. Note, it was totally impromptu, we didn't plan it or anything. It just sort of happened. :) I also don't know why we switched from third person to first person mid-story, we just did, and I thought it was funny. I really don't know why almost the whole thing was in parentheses, that also just happened.

I hope you enjoy!

Larkin: brb
Katie: ok
Larkin: I'M BACK!
Katie: You!
You killed my father!
Larkin: Prepare. To. Die
Katie: NOOOooooOOOOOO!
Larkin: Muaahhahhhahaahahahahaahahahahahahhahhahahhahaaa!
Katie: (light saber)
Larkin: (Awesome sword/with laser proof coating)
Katie: (swing)
Larkin: (block)
(stab)
Katie: (dodge)
(twirl, swing)
(battle yell)
Larkin: (duck, jump)
Katie: (loss of balance)
(somersault)
(recover, turn, scowl)
(strike a dramatic pose)
Larkin: ("For Narnia, Middle earth and the free countries of the galaxy)
(Charge)
Katie: (FOR PONY!)
(charge)
Larkin: (Back flip over you)
(on to my Dragon)
Katie: (pulls jetpack out of nowhere)
(ascends to meet Larkin and dragon in aerial combat!)
(pauses to wonder how Larkin could back flip while on a dragon)
Larkin: (Pulls out hunting-horn and blows, (hard) for reinforcements)
Katie: (summons nanobots to meet reinforcements)
Larkin: (wondering how Katie could pull a jet back out of nowhere)
(Commands 20 dragons to melt nanobots)
Katie: (nanobots! repair!)
(you will never defeat me, my kung fu is stronger!)
Larkin: (You will never defeat me, my magic is stronger)
Katie: (un-straps jetpack, freefalls towards Larkin with light saber swinging, nanobots like a cloud blacking out the sun behind me)
Larkin: (Dragon shoots forward, does a triple loop at a barely safe distance from Katie, then breaths fire at the nanobots, which completely disintegrates half of them)
Katie: (enraged by destruction of nanobots)
(summons a bubble of fire around myself and collides with Larkin and dragon. somehow the sword swing missed)
Larkin: (Larkin turns into her true Elf form, and uses her Elvin power to deflect Katie’s fire from herself and her dragon)
Katie: (GAH foiled again!)
(pulls enchanted daggers from boots and throws them with deadly precision)
Larkin: (daggers deflect off of even more enchanted Dragon scales)
Katie: (twirls magic-resistant dragon-piercing daggers mark 6 from sleeves and juggles menacingly)
Larkin: (reinforcement dragon comes up behind Katie and wacks her legs with his tail so she falls over)
Katie: (teleports)
(reappears behind the dragon)
(says "BOO!")
Larkin: (dragon zooms forward because she's scared because she can't understand how the heck Katie could teleport 300 feet in the air)
Katie: (hmm. good question. Katie falls after realizing that teleporting is impossible)
(the daggers clatter to the floor not but inches from me. catlike I land, poised to strike again!)
Larkin: (Larkin whispers something to the dragon, then jumps off, doing tricks worthy of the Olympics)
(lands on feet, 10 feet away from Katie in a threatening pose)
Katie: (draws dueling pistols, tosses one to Larkin)
Larkin: (Larkin pulls out a magic wand and turns her pistol into a long bow)
Katie: (BUT IT WAS A BOMB!)
(as the spell takes effect, it explodes, tossing Larkin!)
(the concussion blows nanobots everywhere, but they are dead)
Larkin: (luckily, Larkin has extremely quick reflexes, and uses a spell to counter act the majority of the bomb towards Katie, so it knocks her over too)
Katie: (I mutter an eldritch cantrip, and the nanobot pieces assemble into a metal golem!)
(it attacks!)
Larkin: (Larkin's dragon reinforcements immediately shoot lava hot flames at the golem, and it melts)
Katie: (no it doesn't)
Larkin: (fine, it just welds the joints together so it can't move very quickly)
(Larkin grins)
Katie: (fine)
(the golem falls. on top of the dragon)
Larkin: (but the dragon is way stronger then the golem, so she throws the golem off of herself, and uses her tail to smash it into one solid hunk of metal)
(the size of a dining room table)
Katie: (golem is dead. its metallic remains lie in a heap.)
Larkin: (good)
Katie: (its red eyes flicker and go dark)
(I am sad)
(I cry)
Larkin: (Larkin suddenly feels bad for your fruitless efforts, (and because you are her friend) so she puts a body bind spell on you because she knows you have the tendency to be treacherous)
Katie: (without speaking, I make the water turn into a blue dragon-thing out of sheer force of will)
(and that was very nice of you not to kill me btw)
Larkin: (I wonder what exactly a dragon-thing is)
(and send my dragon off to fight your dragon-thing)
Katie: (ok the dragon-thing is like a long snaky see through dragon made of water. pics later)
(the dragons meet in battle!)
Larkin: (My dragon breaths fire at your dragon, which makes it shrink because half of your dragon turns to steam and floats away)
Katie: (my dragon melts and envelops yours in water)
Larkin: (My dragon concentrates on becoming as hot as possible, and then the water explodes)
Katie: (my dragon fizzles away into a puddle)
Larkin: (I raise my eyebrows at you, as if saying "that's the best you can do?"
(and pull out a real-not bombed long bow)
Katie: (you slip in the puddle!)
Larkin: (but use it to my advantage to do a jump/huge triple double back flip onto my dragon)
Katie: (I do a flip-type-thing to my dragon-thing)
(but it's not there)
(instead, I teleport onto your dragon!)
(behind you)
(holding onto the tail)
Larkin: (I use the flat of my sword to knock you off)
Katie: (grab back onto the very tip of the tail and climb hand over hand underneath your dragon until I am holding onto his front legs.)
(also, I tied all his shoelaces together)
(he doesn't know 'cause he's flying.)
Larkin: (my dragon is a girl)
Katie: (she doesn't know, cause she's flying)
Larkin: (and she doesn't wear shoes)
Katie: (I use duct tape to entangle her mary janes?)
Larkin: (IF my dragon wore shoes, she would wear dragon-thing leather boots)
(so ha)
(and my dragon only pretends she doesn’t notice, and she spreads her legs far apart so you fall down)
Katie: (and down and down)
(I parachute)
(and create an illusion of a dragon's horde in a nearby cave!)
Larkin: (my dragon starts to fly straight towards you illusion)
(but she is too smart to be tricked so she breaths fire at you)
Katie: (as she breaths fire at me she's not looking at the pile of gold. the gold disappears and she flies into a giant hole!)
I have to go now.

:)
I hoped you had as much fun reading it as we had writing it!

My Name

To night I went to an Open House for an (almost) missionary friend (he is leaving in a few weeks, and is one of my best friends older brothers). There were some other people there that we know, and one of them was a little 5 year old girl that I know. She was jumping on the trampoline, and she said "look at me!" And then something that I think was supposed to be my name but I wasn't sure. I said "Millie, what's my name?" To which she replied in a very matter of fact voice, "Robin!" I laughed and said “actually, my name is Larkin”, and she looked very confused. I told her older sister what happened, and her sister said that Millie only knows one kind of bird, and that bird is a robin. (as in, she thinks every bird she sees is a Robin) Her sister said that probably one time someone told Millie that my name was Larkin, like the bird, so that's why she thought it was Robin. I thought that the whole thing was supper cute, and I loved it. Oh, and ten minutes later, I asked Millie what my name was, and all she said was that she didn't know!

I am laughing

Yes, I know it is almost ten o'clock and I know and I have seminary tomorrow, but I just had to write this down. We are a little late in going to bed tonight, so my siblings and I are all in the front of our house reading various things. M.8 is on one couch reading Calvin and Hobbes, out loud. P.10 is on another couch reading another Calvin and Hobbes book, out loud. C.12 is at the dining room table reading the index of the Arabian Night’s book he just finished, out loud. I am on the couch, blogging and reading The Chosen, but I am reading it to myself. I don't know why almost everyone is reading out loud to-night, but it’s funny! Oh, it sounds like they are all going to bed now, so I had better too. I'm still laughing though!

A cute conversation

In the car on the way home from a play rehearsal today, I heard this conversation between two seven year-olds. They are both home-schooled, and their older siblings are in some of my classes. They are friends and have been for years, (as are their families) and I thought it was especially funny because of that. I thought it was super cute, so I wrote it down.

Little boy: I feel bad for my dad sometimes; do you ever feel bad for your dad?

Little Girl: Why would I feel bad for him?

Little Boy: Well, cause he works all day, then he comes home, and the house is a mess, then he gets all frustrated. Does your house ever get messy?

Little Girl: Yes sometimes it gets really messy.

Little Boy: So does ours. Then we clean it. Do you ever clean your house?

Little Girl: Yeah, we clean it a lot and put our toys away, but then we take them out and it gets all messy again.

Little Boy: Is your car always this messy?

Little Girl: Yes, except when we clean it. Do you clean your car?

Little Boy: Yeah, we clean it. First we get a big box and put all our stuff in it. Then we vacuum it.

Little Girl: Do you like vacuuming?

Little Boy: Yes, it’s my favorite part because it is fun.

Little Girl: Oh, that’s good.

Love it!

As You Like it

You may or may not recognize that as a Shakespeare play, but it is and I am going to be in it! That is the play we are doing for my local home-school school's Shakespeare class. (Did that make sense?:)) I think it will be really fun, and I am so excited! The problem with our class is that we only have three boys in it and twelve+ girls. So, we had to change almost all of the boy roles to girl roles. The only parts that are staying boys are the the three guys that get married. We are also doing the play as an Island/ship theme, so it will be really fun! If you have read or seen As You Like It, you might remember that there are the two dukes that don't get along, and that one was banished. Well, I am playing the banished duke, named Duke Senior. Except since we are doing an island/ship theme and we changed it to a girl, I am Captain Sonia. I am so excited! I was so nervous waiting to find out who I am playing, I probably checked my email every twenty minutes on Monday afternoon when we were supposed to (and did) find out who we were playing. I am also happy because I have ton of friends in the class, so I will get to see them a lot! Well I am really excited, and rehearsals start next week so I'll be busy, but having fun!

BTW: I think this will be my first post for that school blogging I said I was going to do a while ago. Finally!

My Talk

I gave my talk today in church! I think everyone liked it! The stake president liked the story about the boy who went surfing on Sundays (you can read it in my talk below) that he asked me to email it to him! I thought the hard part was writing it, and the easy part was giving it. I was unfortunately sick today, so I was coughing a lot before and after, but luckily not during my talk.

Here's my talk!

Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the sheep of his fold;
Dear is the love that he gives them,
Dearer than silver or gold.
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are his “other” lost sheep;
Over the mountains he follows,
Over the waters so deep.

Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the lambs of his fold;
Some from the pastures are straying,
Hungry and helpless and cold.
See, the Good Shepherd is seeking,
Seeking the lambs that are lost,
Bringing them in with rejoicing,
Saved at such infinite cost.

Those are the first and second verses of the hymn Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd. In the first verse of this song it is saying that the “sheep of his fold” or the righteous members of the gospel, are important and loved by Christ and Heavenly Father, but it also clearly says that the people who do not belong to the church and less-active members are loved just as much by them. In the second verse, it talks about how some people are straying from the gospel, and that if we help them come back to the gospel, there will be much rejoicing in heaven. When it says “Saved at such infinite cost”, it is speaking of the atonement, and how even if we wander from the gospel, we can always come back to the church.
The parable of the lost sheep is in Luke, chapter 15. It starts out with Pharisees complaining to Jesus that a man had been letting sinners come to his house and dine with him, and that he should be judged. Then in verses 3 through 7 of the same chapter Jesus answers saying, “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance”

In this scripture, it is saying that if you had one hundred sheep, and you lost one of them, wouldn’t you go and search for it until you find it? And after you find it, wouldn’t you be very happy and carry it home and tell all of you friends and family that you had found it? The scripture then says that there will be the same happiness in heaven as the happiness you feel after what was lost is found.

In verse four of the scripture I just read, it said “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? The Joseph Smith Translation of this scripture is very different from the original scripture, and it reads : “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine, and go into the wilderness after that which is lost, until he find it?”

President Howard W. Hunter once said the following about that scripture and its translation: “That translation suggests that the shepherd leave his secure flock and go out into the wilderness—that is, go out into the world after him who is lost. Lost from what? Lost from the flock where there is protection and security. I hope the message of that parable will be impressed on each of us who has priesthood responsibility.

In the August 1990 copy of the Ensign, there was this quote by Elder Alexander B. Morrison Of the Seventy on the joy felt when a less active person comes back to the church. This is what he said:
The scriptural reminder that “the worth of souls is great in the sight of God” (D&C 18:10) takes on new meaning to those involved in finding lost sheep and helping to rekindle faith. The joy felt in heaven when a precious lost child is found and brought back is echoed in the hearts of faithful under-shepherds. They speak of the growing realization in the hearts of the many who have left the fold that life without Christ is like a life of perpetual twilight; of prayers by loving parents that someone would find a prodigal son or daughter; of tears of joy and gladness at rediscovery; of a reawakened desire to sup again at the table of the Lord. Such returns are a great miracle.

Here is a story from the May 2004 issue of the Liahona, by Mervyn B. Arnold. As a member of the branch presidency in Fortaleza, Brazil, Brother Marques with the other priesthood leaders developed a plan to reactivate those who were less active in his branch. One of those who was less active was a young man by the name of Fernando Araujo. Recently I spoke to Fernando, and he told me of his experience:
“I became involved in surfing competitions on Sunday mornings and stopped going to my Church meetings. One Sunday morning Brother Marques knocked on my door and asked my nonmember mother if he could talk to me. When she told him I was sleeping, he asked permission to wake me. He said to me, ‘Fernando, you are late for church!’ Not listening to my excuses, he took me to church.
“The next Sunday the same thing happened, so on the third Sunday I decided to leave early to avoid him. As I opened the gate I found him sitting on his car, reading the scriptures. When he saw me he said, ‘Good! You are up early. Today we will go and find another young man!’ I appealed to my agency, but he said, ‘We can talk about that later.’
“After eight Sundays I could not get rid of him, so I decided to sleep at a friend’s house. I was at the beach the next morning I saw a man dressed in a suit and tie walking towards me. When I saw that it was Brother Marques, I ran into the water. All of a sudden, I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. It was Brother Marques, in water up to his chest! He took me by the hand and said, ‘You are late! Let’s go.’ When I argued that I didn’t have any clothes to wear, he replied, ‘They are in the car.’
“That day as we walked out of the ocean, I was touched by Brother Marques’s sincere love and worry for me. He truly understood the Savior’s words: ‘I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick’ (Ezek. 34:16). Brother Marques didn’t just give me a ride to church—the quorum made sure I remained active. They planned activities that made me feel needed and wanted, I received a calling, and the quorum members became my friends.”
Following his reactivation, Brother Araujo went on a full-time mission and has served as bishop, stake president, mission president, and regional representative. His widowed mother, three sisters, and several cousins have also entered the waters of baptism.

Another kind of lost sheep are people who have never been baptized into the church. We have missionaries to help find these people, but we should also do our part to help bring them to the gospel. President Gordon B. Hinckley once said “When you save a girl, you save generations." This is true with all people, though. When you save one person by bringing them to the gospel, or bringing them back to the church, they will teach there children the gospel, and then there children will teach there children of the gospel and on down the generations. When you help convert a nonmember, you are bringing someone to the fold of Christ.

My mom is a convert of the church. She joined the church when she was 15 because of the friends she had that taught her and set a good example. She now teaches my family how to live righteously in the gospel, and when my siblings and I are adults, we will teach our children how to live righteously in the church.

I would like to close with the last two verses and the chorus of Dear to the Heart of the Sheppard:
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the “ninety and nine”;
Dear are the sheep that have wandered
Out in the desert to pine.
Hark! He is earnestly calling,
Tenderly pleading today:
“Will you not seek for my lost ones,
Off from my shelter astray?”

Green are the pastures inviting;
Sweet are the waters and still.
Lord, we will answer thee gladly,
“Yes, blessed Master, we will!
Make us thy true under-shepherds;
Give us a love that is deep.
Send us out into the desert,
Seeking thy wandering sheep.”

Out in the desert they wander,
Hungry and helpless and cold;
Off to the rescue we’ll hasten,
Bringing them back to the fold.

Amen.

Getting Worried

Today very normal, but very crazy (for me at least) Sunday. After sacrament meeting, the first counselor in our wards bishopric came up to my mom and I, and told me he had an assignment for me. Naturally, I started getting worried as soon as he said that. He asked me if I could give talk next week, and I said yes. That wouldn't be so bad, except that next week is our ward conference, so I will be speaking along with the Bishop and the Stake president. I'm already getting scared. I must confess that I didn't pay as much attention in Sunday school because of that. After Sunday school was finished, I walked out with the three other kids in my class (yes, I only have three other kids in my class, which is pretty small compared to the 13+ I had last year). As soon as we stepped out of the room a member of the bishopric pulled each of the three girls in my class (including me) aside. Once again it was the first counselor that pulled me aside, and his first words to me were "I have another assignment for you" My first thought were "what do I have to do now?!?" (but of course I didn't say that out loud:) He told me that I was being asked to be the first counselor in the Mia Maid class. I of course said yes, and then I went into Young women's with a million things going through my mind. So now I have a new calling, and the scariest assignment of my life, all in one day. My life just got a lot busier.

Civil War Poem

I had to right a poem for a Civil war class I am taking, so I thought I'd post it. Here it is!

Did the Die in Vain?
By Me

Did they die in vain,
To keep the free from the pain,
Of permanent separation?

Fighting across the nation,
Lincoln’s emancipation,
Two countries fighting each other

Brother against brother,
Weeping tearful mother,
The Battle of Bull Run

The North won,
The South was out run,
Did God lend a hand?

Together we stand,
One nation, one land,
In God we must trust

Shakespeare Fair-again!

Here are the pictures from the Shakespeare Fair I mentioned in in a post a couple weeks ago.

The royal goblets on the royal table.

Getting ready to have two of the students coronations. From the left: My teacher Sister H, Rachel (who is about to become Queen), me, Emma, and Dante (who is about to become King)

Rachel and me.

Thank you Marianne for letting me use some of her pictures!

Baby Birds

This picture is from a couple of years ago, but I saw a Gold Finch (maybe it was one of these baby's!) this morning and it reminded me of this picture. I have a lot more good pictures of Gold Finch's, maybe later I'll post them.

OK, here's another picture:

Can you see the baby bird's beak? The mother is feeding him.

Books, Books Books!

I love to read! My favorite kind of books are Fantasy, but I love any kind of book. History, Non-fiction, Science fiction... I love books!

Last Saturday I finished reading the Harry Potter books, and I loved them. My favorite was the last one, but I liked all of them. If you saw one of my previous post on Shakespeare, you'll have noticed that last month I read A LOT of Shakespeare plays. I enjoy reading Shakespeare, and now that I've read so much of it (but not nearly as much as my Shakespeare teachers) I understand it pretty well. Another book that I listened to last month was Uncle Toms Cabin. I had to read or listen to it for a Civil war class I'm taking through my home-school group. I really liked Uncle Toms Cabin, and I thought it was a very good clasical book. It took me about three weeks to listen to it on and off.

Here is a list of [some] of my favorite books. They're not really in order, just as I think of them:)

The Book of Mormon

The Lord of the Rings (all of them)

The Hobbit

Narnia (all of them)

Harry Potter (all of them)

The Dark is Rising (Series, all of them)

Fablehaven (all of them)

The Mysterious Benedict Society (all of them)

Tresure Island

Watership Down

The Lost World

Eight Cousins

Macbeth

The Wizard of OZ

Half Magic

Magic by the Lake

Knights Castle

The Thyme Garden

A Wrinkle in Time

A Wind in the Door

A Swiftly Tilting Planet

School Stuff

I decided that for a Personal Progress Project I would do a project involving schoolish things. (Personal Progress is a program for girls at my church ages 12-18. It a program that has different "values" such as Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue. Each value has a set of projects you can do, and you can also make up some of your own if you want to.) I thought for a project I would would blog about different home-school classes I have taken in the past year or to. I think I'll put it under the value Knowledge. I will have specific label for all of the post about school and classes, but I don't know what it will be yet. I hope you enjoy them!

Queen Me

I'm a Queen!
A Shakespeare Queen to be exact. Once a week, I have a home-school school that I go to. It is normal school hours, and I get home work every week. One of the classes is a Shakespeare class, where we read, study, and learn about Shakespeare's plays. One thing that is optional, is to read, watch or listen to 17 unabridged plays by Shakespeare. I finished all 17 last week! After we read, watch or listen to 17 plays we have a "coronation" and become come a King or Queen. In February, we have a Shakespeare Fair, where we have a performance from the older home school acting class. We also have a modernised Shakespearean diner, and all of the Kings and Queens sit at a special table and get served by the two Shakespeare teachers and all the kids who did not do 17 plays. I think that this year, every one of our 20 Shakespeare class students finished 17 plays, or will have finished them by the Fair which is this Saturday. I'm exited for it! I'll post pictures wen I get them.

Here is the list of all the plays I have watched, read or listened to from September 2009 to February this year:

1. A Midsummer Nights Dream- Watched(BBC)
2. A Midsummer Nights Dream- Read

Did I mention I have a sister?

This afternoon after church, I was in the kitchen cleaning off the table when my sister M-7 called from the Family Room "Hey Larkin, come here and watch me do something not very amazing! Come any way" I said ok and walked in. She was standing in front of our Wii Fit board holding an empty wrapping paper tube. (She was wearing an old tee shirt that says "Ireland" that used to be mine and is much to big for her, Shorts, white tights, and her ballet church shoes) She then slowly walked across the Wii board. (If you have ever used one of these, you'll know that they are about 1' by 1 1/2' large. Not exactly the hardest thing to walk across:) When she was done (it took her about 15 seconds by the way) she said "look, I just walked across a type rope!"

My Crazy Brothers

Unless you know me well in real life, probably all you know about my brothers is that I have two, they are younger then me, and that they like discovering big weird bugs. Well, I thought I would tell a little more about them and tell about something funny one of them said this morning. My mom doesn’t like to give real names on Internet, so I'll call them C.12 and P.10, because those are they're initials and there ages. Well anyway, here is the funny story. It has been raining a lot here for San Diego area, and it has been really windy. My brothers were sitting on one of the couches in our living room with there faces up against the window watching the rain. I was sitting on the couch right next to the one they were doing school work. P.10 was eating something white from a spoon, but both C.12 and I couldn't tell what he was eating. C.12 asked him what he was eating, and he said… mayonnaise. I looked up and barely was able to say mayonnaise!?! On a spoon!!! We were both staring at him horrified when my mom called from the kitchen "He is not, its rice pudding." which luckily, it was. P.10 had been hiding the plate with the pudding on it so we couldn't see it, and I think he thought of saying it was mayonnaise when we asked. I think that the thing scarier then him saying he was eating mayonnaise off a spoon, was that I believed him. Which also proves he might be the kind of person who might do something like that. After all, he does love lots and lots of mayonnaise on his sandwiches.
After the above conversation, we all had som rice pudding. In this picture C.12 is holding his own plate of rice pudding.

My Little Red Riding Hood Story

For a Class I took in the fall, we had to right a story and publish it somewhere. I chose to publish it on my blog. The assignment was to wright a version about little red riding hood that makes her suffer. In my version I thought it was funny because only she thought she was suffering. I hope you like it! (If it is to small to see, you can just clik on the picture and it will enlarge on its own screen)

Cousins!

On my post about the New Years Eve dance, I said that my cousins visited us. It was a lot of fun, and I'm so glad they could come. Here is what we did with them:

Sunday: They arrived at our house right after we got home from church. (we beet them by about thirty seconds) They had stayed at my grandparents house the night before, and happened to get to our house right as we did. We watched a really good movie called EverAfter (I think) and then we goofed off for the rest of the day. We also played cops and Robbers that night. Its a tradition that we play it, and we usually play for at least an hour or to. We went to bed and the older two cousins and I played The Worst Case Scenario game for an hour till about 11:30.

Monday: My cousins family, me and my little sister went to a beach about an hour away from my house. we were there till mid afternoon. That night we played Cops and Robbers again and watched about five of the original episodes of "Get Smart" (the 1965 version, not the new-ish movie) We also played "Clue" till late that night.

Tuesday: We went to the same beach, but this time it was just my cousins family an I. They brought Inflatable Kayaks with them from Utah, so we went kayaking in the ocean with them. It was really fun kayaking, but it was scary when ever there were big waves. That nigh, we watched "Prince Caspian" and I stayed up late with the two older cousins playing "Spoons"

Wednesday: It rained and was supper cloudy, so we went to the movie theaters and saw "The Princess and the Frog" It was a supper cute movie, and we all really enjoyed it. We stayed home the rest of the day, watched more movies, and goofed off (we do that a lot with our cousins) That night, starting at about 10:30, my older two cousins tried to teach me how to dance. I didn't do so well (come on, it was late:) but we managed to go to bed right before midnight, still laughing.

Thursday: New Years Eve! We went to a different beach this time, but it was supper cold. We went kayaking this time, and it was the only time something really bad actually happened. Here is the story of it:
I was out in pretty deep water with my two older cousins (who are both girls by the way) So pretty much, it was a 15 year old, a 14 year old, and a twelve year old battling waves that were taller then them. (dramatic, aren't I :) We were trying to get back to shore, when a huge wave came. We were side ways to the wave when we saw it, so we quickly turned, and we ended up facing it. when the wave hit us, my 12 year old cousin flew out of the kayak, and the wave went over her, also pulling the kayak on top of her. By the time we could see her again, the wave had pulled us about 20 feet away from her. We tried to stop the kayak any farther away from her, and I stuck out my paddle which she eventually grabbed when she got close to us, then we dragged her back on board. We were really scared because she was breathing super fast, and her eyes looked weird. I just kept on patting her on the back, while my other cousin paddled back to shore as fast as she could. We got back, my uncle came and took my younger cousin back to the place we had chairs set up, and we started to drain the kayak out. (It was full to the brim with water from that wave) We left the beach about twenty minutes later, and my cousin was fine. I think her main problem was that she was just really scared. (I would have been) luckily, I think that that was the worst thing that happened during their visit, so it turned out to be successful. We went to the dance that night, everyone else had fun playing and watching movie at home. I can't wait to see them next time!

Here is a picture of us playing "Mexican Train" together. Its really fun, and we love playing it together. Here are some pictures of us kayaking.
This picture is of right before our kayak compleatly flipped over (dummping us all out in the prosses.)

Happy New Year!

New Years Eve Dance

I had a comment asking if I went to the my church's New Years Eve Dance, and I did. It was really fun, but at first I was really nervous. My cousins were visiting since last Sunday (they're from Utah) but they left early this morning. Anyway, My cousin is 15, so she came to the dance with me. There was a thing before the dance starting at eight, then there was the church broadcast a little before 9, and the dance started when the broadcast was over. At the dance, I mostly was with my cousin and a bunch of home-school friends, but I was also with some nice girls from my ward. The dance went till 12:30am, so I was really tired by the time it was over. (I got up at noon today, I was so tired:) It was really fun, and I think I'll want to go to more dances. What did you do for new years eve? Happy New Year!

Here are two picture of my cousin and I right before we left for the dance. My Aunt and my cousin did my hair in a really cool braid like a crown on top of my hair, and in a long braid in the back, so it was really pretty. Thank you Aunt Julie!

Happy New Year!
